"My name is Amber Grise. I graduated from Goffstown High School in 1991. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always drawn horses and been surrounded by a various ark of pets.
By drawing and painting my pets, I have always thought that I have been able to keep their spirits alive and with me long after they have gone.
Using different colors, close up detail, and off center composition makes painting more interesting for me. It is what I call using Free Rein to interpret my subjects using vivid color and loose brush strokes and focusing on facial expression.
"Against the Wind Farm" is the name of my farm in Goffstown, where I raise miniature donkeys, among the many other pet residents, including a 12 year old Chocolate Lab, a visually challenged African grey parrot named Garth, and a wild Chinchilla named Georgie (to name just a few).
The painting that reflects my style the best would be the painting of my own Bulldog Fallon, she is the most loyal and loving dog, Fallon was the runt of her litter and she is truly a survivor, and although she would be embarassed for me to say, her jaw is extremely undershot only adding to her mischievous charm. I hope you can see what I mean through her portrait.
It is my goal to continue to paint people's pets and other animals and I hope to illustrate children's books as well as to write my own stories. Please visit my new (under construction) website at freereinpainting.com.
